
The Faculty of Educational Sciences at the Stefan cel Mare University of Suceava organized an EduCardia oriented Conference emphasizing the importance of socio-emotional skills in the classroom

The EduCardia Conference, held on February 14, 2025, brought together educators, researchers, and experts in the field of educational sciences to discuss innovative strategies for promoting socio-emotional skills in schools. Hosted by the Faculty of Educational Sciences at Ștefan cel Mare University of Suceava, the event featured a series of presentations on teacher training resources, theoretical models, and best practices for integrating socio-emotional learning into the curriculum. The conference attracted 86 on-site participants and over 30 online attendees, including a delegation of 15 university professors from Moldova, highlighting a growing interest in modern teaching methodologies across the region.
The event commenced with an introduction to the EduCardia Project by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aurora-Adina Colomeischi, Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences. This was followed by key presentations, including an exploration of the EmoSocio theoretical model and its applications by Lecturer Dr. Diana Sînziana Duca. Further discussions focused on the development of teacher training materials and a repository of activities designed to enhance students’ socio-emotional competencies. Lecturer Dr. Alina Ionescu-Corbu presented the validation process and feedback on the EmoSocio model, emphasizing its effectiveness in monitoring students’ emotional and social development.
In the afternoon session, educators shared firsthand experiences of implementing the EduCardia program in Romanian schools. Primary and high school teachers from various institutions, including Mihai Eminescu National College and Ștefan cel Mare National College, detailed how the program has positively impacted students’ learning experiences. Additionally, an online presentation by Corina Atofanei from Ion Luca Theoretical High School in Vatra Dornei showcased the adaptability of the program in different educational settings. These testimonials underscored the practical benefits of socio-emotional learning and its role in fostering a supportive and engaging classroom environment.
The conference concluded with a feedback session, where participants reflected on the significance of integrating socio-emotional skills into the education system. The event not only reinforced the importance of teacher training in this domain but also facilitated the exchange of knowledge between Romanian and Moldovan educators. With an increasing number of teachers eager to adopt new methodologies, EduCardia stands as a valuable initiative in shaping future educational practices aimed at supporting students’ emotional well-being and academic success.
